Yanagisawa, also known as Takuya Yagawa, was a leader to a huge gang and later on a main subordinate of Gakusan Takao that worked with him in an attempt to defeat the Megu-dan. He was one of the main antagonists in the Ideal Woman Cup and the Gakusan Game arc.
Appearance[]
Yanagiawa is a man of above average build. When he was introduced in the Ideal Woman Cup, he had light purple hair and a stud earring on his right ear. He wore a green shirt, a purple short sleeve jacket over it and long magenta pants.
Upong changing his identity, Yanagisawa dyed his hair black and removed his earring. Because Takao forbids him from doing so, he was not seen smoking during the Gakusan Game arc. He donned a police uniform as a disguise, followed by a formal suit, and eventually opted for the same suit but without the tie and with a suit jacket.
Personality[]
Before, Yanigisawa possessed a rather narcissistic character, craving worship and reverence similar to that of a politician.[1] At the same time, he was charming and charismatic, possibly a manipulative tactic to gain trust. As the leader of a large gang teeming with members, he frequently exploited his comrades for personal gain, exhibiting minimal regard for their well-being. He was also sadistic and enjoyed beating up his friends/ comrades to vent his frustrations.[1]
However, as the series progresses, Yanigisawa experiences significant character change. His self-centered and ruthless demeanor underwent a transformation, giving way to a more calm compassionate personality, evident in his concern for Megumi. Furthermore, his attitude towards Tomo shifted from the hostility he displayed towards his gang members to something more of mutual tolerence and respect. Despite these changes, he still clings onto being a cold person, so he comes across as tsundere-like at times.[2]
Relationships[]
Amatsuka Megumi[]
Yanagiawa is drawn to Megumi in a different way than most people. Ever since meeting her in the Ideal Woman Cup, he had a desire to see her humbled.[3] But based on Tomo's observations, there seems to be an underlying love for her, a notion he denies.[3][2] Deep down, Yanagiawa is secretly amazed by her, a sentiment reflected in his actions especially when he helped Megumi after she and Genzo passed out.
Gakusan Takao[]
The both of them maintain a fairly formal business relationship, though they do talk casually with each other. Yanagisawa also has high respect for Takao and was willing to continue following him as a subordinate.
Tomo[]
Collegues who both work under Takao. Over the Gakusan Games arc, he and Tomo can be seen slowly becoming more comfortable with one another to the point of acquaintanceship, or even friendship. When Tomo teased him for being lame, Yanagisawa didn't retaliate harshly, only telling her to "shut up" in a light hearted manner. He then asks where she was, signalling that he might have been worried about her.
